Radon Testing

What is Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of naturally occurring uranium in soil and rock. It is invisible, odorless, and tasteless, and can only be detected through specialized tests. We, at All Points Home Inspections, LLC in Boonton, NJ, are licensed to perform radon testing. We have the proper devices to determine the level of the said harmful substance to ensure whether a house is fit for occupancy or not.

Why is Radon a Concern?

Radon enters the home through openings that are in contact with the ground such as cracks in the foundation, small openings around pipes, and sump pits. Like other radioactive materials, it undergoes a natural decay process that, over time, can ultimately lead to lung tissue damage. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, resulting in 15,000 to 22,000 deaths per year. If a home has levels of 4pCi/L or higher, mitigation is recommended. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recommends that all homes be tested for radon.
